What uses the most energy at home?
8. TV, Cable box – Average household cost per year: $57
We’re all aware that making certain sacrifices at home can result in us saving more money on our electricity bills. But what exactly do we need to do to save what could be hundreds of dollars. The first place to start is to identify what household items occupy and use up the most electricity, then find ways of being more efficient with their usage. For example, a TV will use a significant amount of energy, and simple things like turning it off properly helps reduce the load, but modern TVs are becoming more efficient and less power hungry. You might find that it makes more sense to buy a new TV, rather than paying the additional power an older TV uses. This is just an example and should will vary in many cases, however, these following household items are the most popular offenders for items that use the most electricity and energy at home.
