2. He signs a 2-year deal with the club
Team Melli star player Mehdi Taremi has started a new chapter in his professional football career at Portuguese club side Rio Ave. The 27 year-old forward who most recently played for Qatari sports club Al-Gharafa SC as well as Persian Gulf Pro League giants Persepolis F.C. signed for the Portuguese side towards the end of July on a 2-year deal. He has already gotten off to a hot start with scoring 3 goals in a 5-1 victory on his first appearance for Rio Ave. Taremi, who has managed an impressive 19 goals in 42 appearances for Team Melli is considered as one of our most prolific strikers on the current roster. Taremi becomes the third Iranian player in the Primeira Liga this season, which is the official name of the Portuguese professional league. He joins Amir Abedzadeh, the goalkeeper of Maritimo, as well as Mehrdad Mohammadi, a winger for football club Desportivo Aves. During his time with Persepolic, Taremi was twice crowned the top goal scorer of the Persian Gulf Pro League. He is now hoping that this brilliant opportunity at Rio Ave can help excel him onto the European football scene. Here are some recent shots of Mehdi Taremi arriving and now playing in Portugal.
