New Chinese car clone of popular Porsche

1. Zotye SR9 and Porsche Macan

The Porsche Macan is one of the best selling small SUVs on the market. It retails at around $50,000 and combines performance, practicality, luxury and comfort all together. For this reason, it’s no surprise that another Chinese car manufacturer has created a clone copy of the popular Porsche Macan, now branded as the Zotye SR9. The SR9 starts at 109.800 yuan, which is the equivalent of $16,000, and from the exterior looks almost identical to the Porsche Macan. The Chinese motor industry often looks at the European industry for design inspiration and it’s extremely common for them to introduce a new car which looks identical to a popular selling European car. The SR9 is powered by a 2.0 litre engine that produces 150 bhp, which is significantly lower than the Porsche’s performance stats, however, it’s often the case that while the Chinese will copy cars design, it’ll often not be able to match performance figures, hence the reduced price.
