Boeing has successfully completed the first test flight of the world’s largest twin-engined plane, the 777X, near Seattle US. The very lengthy 252-foot-long passenger plane had been due to launch this year but has since been delayed by some technical difficulties. The Boeing 777X is a larger and more efficient version of Boeing’s successful 777. Some of it’s standout features include folding wingtips and the world’s largest commercial engines. According to the 777X’s marketing director Wendy Sowers, the Boeing “represents the great things we can do as a company,”. The company will surely profit from their new project as according to figures, Boeing says it has sold 309 places, worth more than $442 million each at list prices. As expected, the plane will go head-to-head with the Airbus A350-1000, which can seat about 360 passengers. The test flight itself took off near Seattle and lasted for approximately four hours. There were two attempts to take-off prior in the week, however, both were called off due to high winds. According to Boeing, each wing on the 777X-9 is the largest single composite structure in the world. With regards to when you’ll be able to fly in one, well, Boeing projects the 777X-9 will enter service in late 2021. Companies that have already order the model include – Lufthansa, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and All Nippon Airways. Here are some of the best shots of the beautiful and record-breaking new commercial airliner.
