8. Penecillin, 1928




Penecillin was discovered in 1928 by Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming. It is used to treat infections and kill bacteria as an antibiotic. Penecillin is still used to this day as an antibiotic and has helped saved millions of lives every single year. Scientists are working around the clock to invent a new form of antibiotic which can last for another few decades.
