The US has the world’s highest rate of population to prison, despite only having around 5% of the world’s population. While many will have different reasons as to why so many Americans get locked up per year, the point is, it’s a National problem. Despite the incarceration rates dropping to lows of around 450 per every 100,000 people, the numbers are still too high. We take a look at the 10 States with the highest rate of population in jail, and compare it per 100,000 people. These figures are in accordance to the Department of Justice. The US State of Georgia is our first entry on the list.
