Alireza Faghani was one of the World Cup’s most experienced and best performing officials. He arrived back home yesterday at the Nation’s International airport and him and his officiating team were greeted by fans, friends and family. Alireza Faghani, along with his team of officials Reza Sokhandan and Moha Mansouri, took charge of several notable games such as France vs Argentina and most recently England vs Belgium for the 3rd placed prize. He was part of only a handful of selected officials that FIFA decided to keep for the final few knockout matches of the World Cup. Many believed he was rumoured to take charge of the final, as his performances during the World Cup were so well greeted. The experienced referee has won plenty of achievements that include Asian Referee of the Year in 2016 as well as being awarded Iranian Referee of the Year in both 2014 and 2017. Here is a collection of pictures as he and his team arrived back home.
