4. Lightbulb, 1879
There was a time when candles, fire and the sun were the only form of light available. However, in 1879 that all changed, when famous inventor Thomas Edison commercially created the first electric lightbulb. Since then, lightbulbs are used in millions and millions of appliances, as well as in cars and streets and especially indoor spaces.
