Leaders who still want Iran agreement

Leaders who still want Iran agreement

1. Xi Jinping – President of China

Back in 2015, Iran had agreed a long-term deal on its nuclear programme with the world powers of the US, UK, France, China, Russia as well as Germany. However, on the 8th of May, the US and new President Donald Trump decided to leave the agreement due to clauses in the contract that he felt were not beneficial to the US, nor did he feel like the deal was being fulfilled as it was initially set out to do. The decision to leave was heavily criticised worldwide and has had plenty of backlash, as well as mixed opinions from all corners of the globe. The other world leaders who were also involved in the agreement, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), have currently said they are keen to remain involved with the agreement and the government of Iran has expressed interest to continue without the US. Here is a list of the countries, and in particular, the world leaders who have expressed a desire to remain in the JCPOA deal with Iran.
